Budget – Budget – Budget.  Oh, did I mention budget.  Know what you are spending on what is the key to winning at the money game.  The best way to do this is to create the habit of knowing where your money is going.  Every day for 30 days keep track of every penny you make and spend.  Don’t be attached to the results just keep track and look at the end of the month where your money is going.  Next prioritize your spending on what is most important to you.  Many times you’ll notice there are places you are spending your money that really don’t improve the quality of your life and are easy to stop spending on.

 

Save – Save – Save.  Although the ability to borrow money at attractive rates is an important aspect of your financial life, paying cash is better.  Make sure you have at least 6 months of living expenses saved in case of emergency.  Don’t rely on your credit card, rely on yourself.

 

Invest, Invest, Invest.

Once you get past that 6 month savings benchmark you can start investing your money.  Have your money make money for you.
